Until recently, I was sure that blind Comic-lovers would only be able to access comics through sighted friends, or audio dramatizations, (Such as the ones done by GraphicAudio). However, I recently found out that Comic Book writers use scripts to direct the artists. I took a look at some sample scripts from the Comic Book Script Archive, and was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail the authors put into their scripts; Characters, locations, actions, and panels were so well-described, that nothing was left to the imagination. How would one go about alerting larger publishers, (Marvel, DC etc) to the need for scripts, as a simple accessibility solution? DO you think they would listen? I know marvel tried making comics accessible but their adaptation of Daredevil issue 1, was pretty sloppy in my opinion, and nothing else happened in terms of increased access after that. Or should each author be contacted individually to ask about the availability their scripts? Do you think scripts could be included with the price ofa digital comic E-Book as an accessibility feature?
Any thoughts?
